Genderqueer, "she" or singular "they" pronouns are fine.

queer is such a good word. im queer as in fuck you. queer as in odd. queer as in fucked-in-the-head. queer as in i hope you choke on it. queer as in a slur i laugh at. queer as in not like you. queer as in none of your business. queer as in a line in the fucking dirt. queer as in we’re here. get used to it. queer as in this is who i am and what i am. queer as in im different and i dont fucking care. queer as in with or without you i exist and ill keep doing it. queer as in queer

only one person has tagged this as “q slur” so far which is one person too many tbh, so. this post is inherently anti “q slur”. queer is a good fucking word and if you dont want people to see it on your blog then dont reblog this post.

“queer as in spiteful” doesnt leave room for queerphobic nonsense, thanks

yes hello if you insist that “queer” is a slur you are giving the power to define it to the bigots and homophobes instead of reserving it for the people to whom it applies thank you for coming to my ted talk.

lokipagan:

When I was a (unmedicated, undiagnosed ADHD) kid, like, under 12, my room was a mess all the time. Not shocking.

I struggled keeping it clean.

I struggled getting it clean.

I would sincerely put in quite a bit of effort and be really proud of the progress I made. Then one of my parents would come check and see how I was doing.

“Well, you’ve still got a long way to go.”

That sentence. I was like, 11 when my parents were saying that to me. It was crushing. All my pride and satisfaction with my work was completely gone. All my effort was worthless to them. All they saw what everything I didn’t do.

At the age of ELEVEN, I knew that wasn’t right. That wasn’t fair. I swore to myself I would never invalidate someone’s work like that.

Now, at 30, I catch myself thinking ‘I cleaned up, but my apartment is still so messy.’ and I flashback to standing in my bedroom as a child, hearing those fucking words from my parents.

'No. I wouldn’t invalidate someone else’s work. I’m not going to invalidate my own. I did good. I made progress.’ and I’ll list the things that I DID get done to myself.

You deserve credit for all the progress you make.

You deserve credit for all the work you do.

It doesn’t matter how much work you have left.

What you accomplish, no matter how small, counts. Even when what you accomplished was taking a day to rest and recharge and give yourself a break.

Never let anyone invalidate your work. Not even you.

Your honor! Please direct your attention towards the manga.

image

As you can see there are small pieces of paper sticking out of every volume.

image

But no such paper is sticking out of the Batman comic.

image

The reason? The Batman book doesn’t belong to the library. The photographer put it there to take a picture.

image
image

Once again making hasty assumptions, Wright?

image

First of all, I’d like to direct the court’s attention to this particular spot, in the top right-hand corner.

image

Notice how the words are blocking the top of the Batman book.

image

With this in mind, how can you claim that there is “no such paper sticking out of the Batman comic”?!

image

Say whaaaat?

image

Well uhm

image

Look at the size of the paper pieces, they’re all sticking pretty far out.

image

If there was paper in the batman comic, it would be big enough to stick up over the text.

image

And while gravity does exist, it probably won’t make the paper do a 90 degree turn and just lean horisontally left at the middle.

image

Still grasping for straws, Wright?

image

Hypothetically, if there were a paper there, this picture would not be able to prove its presence. I’ve taken the liberty of drawing a diagram to illustrate my point. We are faced with three possibilities. It is possible that (1) the paper was simply tucked in deeper than the others.

image

Paper is a soft material, Wright. It’s not unreasonable for it to do a (2) 90 degree turn.

image

Or perhaps, (3) a paper does not exist there at all.

Either way, you cannot prove your client innocent without sufficient evidence.

image

Which, of course, is impossible thanks to the obtrusive words.

image
image
image

I’m sorry Edgeworth.

image

I concede that I can’t disprove theory 1

image

But the image you submited for theory 2 is contradictory.

image

Look at the tilt of the other papers. They clearly prove how much the paper would tilt.

image

And theory 3 is my point! Why would the library’s book not have this piece of paper when the other library books do?

image

While you still have thory 1, there is another contradiction.

image

The books are not in alphabetical order, this proves that the batman comic was placed there specifically for the picture!

image

Ack.

image

(Perhaps I should’ve left the artistry to the forensic artist…)

image

Now hold it right there! It doesn’t matter which direction the paper is going because it’s impossible to prove it even exists!

image

Those theories are all the same! We do not have enough information to prove them. There could be an infinite amount of papers in there for all we know. I simply presented them only so that the court could better understand your baseless conjecture!

image

… I suppose the order of the books do seem out of the ordinary. However, therein lies not just one possibility. Clearly, those are Japanese graphic novels, also known as “manga”. And the Batman comic book is a graphic novel, too, no?

image

Seeing as it currently has only graphic novels in the shelf, it is possible that any other novels have simply not yet been restocked. Asserting whether or not this effect was deliberate is useless– there is no way of knowing if the photographer and the captioner are the same person, let alone their involvement in this picture.

image

Face it Wright, you can’t prove any of these groundless accusations!

Did everyone just ignore the library sticker?

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.

I’m reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.

MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.

She’s technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isn’t deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.

But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isn’t worthy of the space.

The sad reality though is even though she’s mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think she’s a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.

She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told she’s not monster “enough”. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.

This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.

NOW I will reblog this.

Image description: A comic in seven panels

Panel 1: A wolf man wearing a pale blue polo shirt and dark blue pants faces the viewer. He is saying, “Uh… I’m sorry ma’am, but this is a support group for monsters only.” With his right hand, he gestures to a group of monsters sitting around a table in the background. The monsters are a giant bat, a gorilla, and a dragon. They are facing away from the viewer.

Panel 2: A white woman with blonde hair wearing a pink striped shirt and dark capri pants says with a smile, “Well, actually, I AM a monster.” The wolf man replies, looking skeptically, “… How?”

Panel 3: The woman responds, while looking at the viewer, “Well, you see, my mother was a mermaid and my father was a minotaur.” Above her head, there is a thought cloud depicting a mermaid in a tank holding hands and looking lovingly at a Minotaur who is standing outside of the tank.

Panel 4: The wolf man, still looking dismissive, says, “Riiight. And let me guess: You got the human half from both of them.” The woman responds, “Exactly!” The wolf man says, “Gotcha. Hardy har har.”

Panel 5: The wolf man points and makes a snarling face at the woman, saying, “Ya know, it’s insensitive mockery like this that makes us need these groups in the first place.” The woman holds up her hands defensively, leaning away and looking surprised. She says, “Huh?”

Panel 6: The woman says, “Listen sir, I’m just here to drop off my brother and I’ll be on my way.” She still has a worried expression and gestures to her brother behind her. Her brother has a Minotaur upper half and a fish lower half. He is riding a mobility device. He says, “This guy buggin’ you sis?” while raising an eyebrow.” The wolf man looks astonished.

Panel 7: The woman is shown walking off-panel to the left. She says over her shoulder, “I’ll be back to pick you up at seven.” Since her back is to the viewer, we can now see that she has a tail. Her brother says, “Sounds good, thanks.” The wolf man continues to look astonished.”

End ID

Thanks for the image description!

This comic really sums up how I feel as a white passing mixed person

this comic is how I feel as a white passing mixed person, how I feel as an invisibly disabled person, and how I feel as a queer people with complicated/contradictory labels

Damn it. I’m supposed to be watching a TV show and now I’m crying.

This is how I feel as a dynamically disabled person.

I’ve never had the words to describe this like the comic described this.

fantastic

Simply because the link about the gender neutral pronoun “thon” leads to a google books page (gross) in Portuguese, it may not prove particularly useful for English speakers. Instead, here’s a link to a Merriam-Webster post about it. While they don’t have links to their sources, they do include all the titles to the publications referenced, most of which are surely public domain.

In addition, if “thon” (or “þon,” for any literary nerds) doesn’t suit you, here is a list of proposed gender neutral pronouns regardless of whether or not they have seen usage.

It even has usage notes! Please DM me if the links don’t work.

they’re being sued due to putting together an “emergency library”, essentially, in the wake of schools and libraries closing due to covid-19.

you can read about it in a few places. here’s one article on the subject, but there’s plenty to be found.

Hey I just went to look to see if there was any new developments since this was posted (June 2020), And the actual trial as far as I know the trial will begin around November 2021. So this is still relevant.  Archive.org Blog |  Publisher’s Weekly
